Instructional Design is a term also synonymous with teaching, training, content development, technical writing, information design, etc. The field continues to merge with other technologies and practices until information decimation be it through teaching, e-learning, writing, or advertising explain in greater detail about a given subject, product, or activity. Many colleges offer courses in Instructional Design, including my own alma matter at San Francisco State University, http://www.sfsu.edu/~itec. As the field continues to change, so do the associations and magazines, which leads me to rely more on the web at this time.
Being a good instructional designer requires that one understand the principles of effective teaching methods, as well as knowing the tools of or be able to create well-designed messages in a digital form.
I am also looking for a good instructional design program. Do you have any tips? Thank you!
