Sumtotal Systems Powers Elearning at U.k. Retail Giant B&q
"We chose SumTotal after an intensive analysis and trial of the major eLearning vendors in the market as it stood out in regards to flexibility, ease-of-use and scalability. These features are vital to B&Q as we are rolling out our eLearning solution to 28,000 users in more than 300 stores."
"The combination of a user-centric interface and sheer 'out-of-the-box fit' allowed B&Q to provide a sound eLearning platform against an aggressive rollout schedule."
-Steve Hemmant, Project Leader
When B&Q, the U.K.'s number one do-it-yourself and garden center retailer needed a fast, efficient way to train its busy and burgeoning workforce, it turned to a proven learning solution: SumTotal. In under a year, the company experienced five-figure savings (expected to climb to six figures in 2002) compared to its old training methods. What's more, in the highly competitive DIY retail environment, B&Q staff are equipped to offer customers advice and help above and beyond most other retailers.
Today, employees in all the company's U.K. stores use the eLearning system. According to Steve Hammant, a Project Leader for B&Q, staff feedback has been extremely positive, calling the SumTotal system clear, easy to use, and logical to work through. "Sometimes," he says, "we have a problem getting people off the PC when they're training, as they like the experience so much!"
"SumTotal has reduced our four-hour Health and Safety training session for new staff to about one and a half hours. And as staff gain familiarity with the system, their confidence is increasing when dealing with customers. You can't put a price on confident staff, but it's possibly the best ROI we could have hoped for."
-- Adrian Jones, E-Training Manager, B&Q

Best open source reputation system platform that's easy to use?
Hi. I'd like to create a website that has the repository capabilities and reputation functions such as in Youtube, Yahoo answers and Sitepoint market place.
I'd like to create an elearning object portal where educators can easily upload/ download/ rate/ comment/ request the objects.
Are there any platforms that are ready made for this? I've tried JOOMLA, Moodle and other similar, big name CMSs, but the problem with them are: 1. only through complex addons and customization can this be done; 2. they aren't administrator friendly and are very cumbersome to set up.
I'm not a programmer, and I've had much frustration with greedy outsourcing companies who I've approached over time, budget and quality.
I'm sure something already exists, right?
Please guide me here.
I have not checked about these at all, but some pages seemed to come up with a search. So have a look at the web sites and see what they have to say. Herre is the search result:
